This year’s 12th CAD/CAM & Digital Dentistry Conference and Exhibition was bigger and better than it has been in previous years. As a result of the growing digital dentistry sector in the region, the conference took place this year in the InterContinental Hotel, Festival City, Dubai. The new location gave the organisers enough extra space to introduce a number of new elements to the event, including additional room for exhibitors and more comfortable and relaxed seating in the meeting room where the scientific programme was held.

Because of the continued growth of digital dentistry technology in the Middle East, the hands-on courses and the lectures in the scientific programme were designed to ensure that dentists were brought fully up to date with the latest technologies on the market. The 12th CAD/CAM & Digital Dentistry Conference brought all areas of the digital dental industry together, from device makers to dealers, allowing the participants to update their knowledge of the latest innovations in the field.

The programme of this year’s event was designed to meet the needs of each and every individual participant. The general sessions provided attendees with a knowledge of CAD/CAM and digital dentistry used on a daily basis in challenging clinical situations. On the stage of the main conference hall, the participants could listen to experts in digital dentistry, including: Dr. Gerwin V. Arnetzl from Austria, Dr. Paulo Monteiro from Portugal, Dr. Med. Dent. Alexandros Manolaki from Greece, Dr. Jan Kirkedam from Norway, Dr. Roberto Turrini from Italy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Cagdas Kislaoglu from Turkey, Dr. Matthew Holyoak and Dr. Charl du Toit from UK, Dr. Khaled Ekram from Egypt, Dr. Julian Conejo Gutierrez from Costa Rica, Tom Huigen from The Netherlands, MDDr. Marek Šupler from Slovakia and many more who shared their knowledge. The event featured 14 CME (ADA C.E.R.P.), HAAD 17 CME and DHA 14 CME accreditation across the two days.

During the event, a parallel session for dental technicians was held as an addition to the CAD/CAM and digital experience. The Dental Technician Int’l Meeting was held at the same venue, for one day only. During the morning session, the delegates had the opportunity to hear from Yamen Chaban, TSS, CDT from Germany, Dan Stenkilsson, DT from Sweden, Bob Elst from Belgium, Aiham Farah from Syria and Vanik Kaufmann-Jinoian, CDT, Switzerland. In the afternoon session, round table clinic presentations were held, where the technicians could learn from the best in the field. The event featured 7 CME (ADA C.E.R.P.), HAAD 8.75 CME and DHA 7 CME accreditation.

Those who wanted to learn even more could participate in hands-on courses that were offered from 01-08 May 2017, which gave them the opportunity to gain further practical knowledge by drilling, bleaching and testing components on models and learning what to think about in order to optimise restorations and outcomes.

After the lectures and hands-on courses, the first day of the event finished with a cocktail reception. This gathering on the Friday was hosted on the terrace of the Vista Lounge of the event area, where guests could admire a spectacular display of light and water at the World’s Largest Water Project Screen which has found its place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
