Born in Sydney, Australia, Associate Professor Patrick Tseng received his BDS from the National University of Singapore in 1985. He obtained his Masters of Science in Endodontics with Distinction from the University of London in 1990 and was awarded the National University Hospitals' Citation award in 1991.

Associate Professor Tseng is the Chief Dental Officer at the Ministry of Health of Singapore and the Registrar of the Singapore Dental Council. He is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry of the National University of Singapore and also a Senior Consultant with the Dental Services of the National University Hospital. He concurrently holds appointments as Chairman of the Specialist Accreditation Board and Chairman of the Oral Health Therapists Accreditation Committee. He is a member of the Board of the Endodontic Residency Programme of the National University of Singapore and a past President of the Singapore Dental Association. He is also the Associate Editor of the Singapore Dental Journal as well as a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel of the Journal of Endodontics (official scientific publication of the American Association of Endodontists) and the Hong Kong Dental Journal. He is a Founder member of the Society of Endodontists, Singapore and was awarded the Fellow of the International College of Dentists in 1997 and Fellow of the Academy of Dentists International in 1998.

Associate Professor Tseng has lectured and conducted hands-on and continuing education courses extensively locally, regionally and internationally.
