The merger of DENTSPLY and Sirona in 2016 brought together two companies that have delivered innovative technologies and products into practices and laboratories for more than 100 years. At the IDS 2017, Dentsply Sirona will demonstrate how the connection to integrated end-to-end solutions (complete range) is setting new standards in modern dentistry.

Integrated workflows that combine dental products and work steps in both the practice and the laboratory intelligently and efficiently define modern dentistry. As the world's largest manufacturer of dental solutions, Dentsply Sirona is pre-destined to drive forward innovations that support dentists and dental technicians in providing their patients with better, safer and faster dental treatments.

"It is essential that we consistently think through the processes of dental treatments from the initial diagnosis through to the final treatment for the patient and provide solutions that are harmonized with each other," said Group Vice President for Germany, the Benelux countries and Scandinavia Markus Böhringer. "To accomplish this, we work closely together with our customers, dental practitioners and dental technicians, which ensures that innovations in the practice and the laboratory result in maximum benefit for patients.

Merger of separate processes in one workflow
Practitioners can experience the benefits resulting from the combination of products to create a plannable and predictable therapy procedure with Dentsply Sirona in a number of different fields and integrate them into their working processes. This is particularly clear in endodontics, where innovative products, such as the new 3D Endo software in combination with Orthophos 3D devices (Dentsply Sirona Imaging), put the dentist in a position to reliably plan an endodontic treatment digitally.

The size of the Orthophos SL can be reduced to 5 x 5.5 cm and hence, when combined with the HD mode, it provides optimal X-ray images for endodontic indications. The files used in the therapy can then be visualized directly in the 3D Endo software.

With WaveOne Gold Glider, Dentsply Sirona can also provide a reciprocating glide path file that optimizes the root canal preparation. New metallic alloys for the file and new material for fillings from Dentsply Sirona Endodontics also ensure the very best results in root canal treatment. The treatment process is simplified further with an endo function integrated into the treatment center, providing even more comfort for both the dentist and the patient.

In order to optimally finish teeth after root treatment, Dentsply Sirona Restorative provides complete solutions with innovative products that are perfectly harmonized, such as the Palodent V3 sectional matrix, Prime&Bond active universal adhesive, the flowable SDR and the ceram.x composite. Users of this combination are impressed by its optimal adaptation to the practitioner's methods and the requirements placed on the filling.

Analyze reliably, increase confidence
Integrated implantology is another example of Dentsply Sirona’s system expertise that no other company can provide in this form. The concept includes all phases of dental implantology, forming them into an integrated process. It begins with a reliable diagnosis via a 3D X-ray image with subsequent digital impression with CEREC. Both datasets are then integrated in an implant planning software program (GALILEOS Implants, mySIMPLANT). In this way, the implant insertion is perfectly harmonized with the anatomical conditions and the prosthetic objective. For the insertion itself, there is a comprehensive selection of proven and scientifically documented implant systems from Dentsply Sirona Implants available (AstraTech, Xive and Ankylos). The complete process of scanning, planning, insertion and restorative treatment is intuitively and systematically supported. The final prosthetic solution can either be manufactured via the laboratory with Atlantis or directly at the chairside with CEREC (Dentsply Sirona CAD/CAM).

For CEREC, as a result of the merger, there is now an even greater variety of materials available from one source for the restoration and for securing the restoration. In this way, dentists can treat an even greater number of patients with different indications and individual requirements with full ceramics in just one visit. For both CEREC Zirconia and Celtra Duo, all of the components required for an optimal workflow are obtained from just one source: the Celtra Duo blocks, the new CEREC SpeedGlaze spray and the new Calibra universal cement.

Both SICAT applications in the SICAT Suite also provide an integrated solution: The SICAT Function software combines diagnostic patient information from the 3D X-ray with a jaw motion tracker (SICAT JMT+) and the optical impression (CEREC) for the treatment of temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD).

SICAT Air is another integrated solution, one that is manufactured and provided only by Dentsply Sirona. This is based on the first 3D solution to not only enable the visualization and analysis of the upper airways in 3D volume, but also to provide efficient support in the planning of a splint-guided therapy. From a combination of CBCT and digital surface data from the upper and lower jaw, SICAT Air provides the option of digitally ordering a protrusion splint from SICAT for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Dentsply Sirona is setting new standards in the analysis of function and airways with these workflows.

Live treatments at trade fair stands
The latest innovations from CEREC will be presented daily at the IDS in 20 live demonstrations. These live demonstrations will clearly show how the chairside production of restorations can be integrated into the practice workflow and will take place in both halls (10.2 and 11.2). Trade fair visitors can speak with CEREC experts as well as other users. CEREC provides numerous opportunities to combine various therapy processes to make an integrated system, making it possible to experience live how the innovations - from both Dentsply Sirona Implants and Dentsply Sirona Restorative - are combined. Dentsply Sirona Prosthetics has proven itself once more as a competent interlocutor for dental technicians and will host presentations on innovative products and processes for the laboratory at its stand.

Stand concept reflects integrative approach
Dentsply Sirona will have stands located in two halls at the IDS. In Hall 10.2, trade fair visitors will primarily find new technologies and equipment for the dental practice, as well as solutions for clinics, products that dentists will know and value primarily from Legacy Sirona, with Treatment Centers being one of them. The new generation of treatment centers forms the foundation of every practice, with modern and ergonomic design, high-quality materials and the best instruments as the keys for optimal treatment. At its stand, Dentsply Sirona Treatment Centers will also present the current design trends for the dental practice as a space for living and working in a very special manner.

In Hall 11.2, visitors can experience all products from Legacy DENTSPLY as well as integrated endodontics and implantology workflows. The individual business units will be presented respectively. Furthermore, the Prosthetics (DeguDent) unit is located directly adjacent to the CAD/CAM solutions from inLab, which will be presented for the first time in Hall 11.2. Dental technicians can follow the entire digital workflow live and will likely be impressed by the materials and how they are processed in the inLab grinding and milling units. An additional focal point is implantology. Dentsply Sirona Implants will be flanked by information stands from the Imaging Systems and CAD/CAM units, meaning the concept of integrated implantology can be experienced live. Dentsply Sirona Endodontics (formerly DENTSPLY Maillefer and TULSA DENTAL SPECIALTIES) will be surrounded by product ranges from the Instruments, Preventive and Imaging Systems units as well. Furthermore, the materials from the Restorative (DENTSPLY DeTrey) unit will be on display in the immediate vicinity - making it clear how the products from the separate business units combine together in practice.

Optimum treatment for teeth - sustainable improvement of oral health
"The combination of digital technologies with innovative products to create harmonized solutions is not an end in itself," said Böhringer. "We see it as a path toward making dentistry better, faster and safer. It is all about supporting our customers in practices and laboratories in using these innovations for optimal dental treatments and improving the long-term oral health of the patients. Everyone involved will profit from this - both today and in the future."
