DAKAR, Senegal: The first International Dental Exhibition Africa (IDEA) to be held in Dakar from 17 to 19 October by the Italian Dental Industries Association (UNIDI) in partnership with the FDI World Dental Federation, received the patronage of the Senegalese Ministry of Health. The Ministry will support the event with a social initiative.
The Senegalese Ministry of Health, in cooperation with an international non-profit organisation, will promote a social initiative dedicated to oral health and the prevention of dental diseases. As part of the Strategy for Africa, developed at a previous African Summit in Cape Town, the FDI will contribute to provide leadership training to 20 African National Dental Associations. The Senegalese Dental Association will also be involved and will organise a national congress and host several symposiums addressed to dental technicians.
As part of the scientific programme, there will be a conference that is totally dedicated to oral surgery on 18 October. One of the lectures of the conference, titled “Oral surgery: an integrative part of functional and aesthetic rehabilitation”, will be presented by Prof Gerhard K. Seeberger from Italy, the speaker of the FDI Council.
Moreover, exhibitors will have the opportunity to organise their own symposium during the event, allowing local dental professionals to see new technologies with their own eyes and discover their specific applications.
More than 50 exhibitors from nine different countries have already confirmed their participation. Interested companies can register as exhibitors until 30 June. The application form can be downloaded from the exhibition website: www.ideadakar.com.
