Divonne Les-Bains, France: Electro Medical Systems (EMS) presented the new Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) at the inaugural World Congress on Biofilm.
Guest speakers from the Swiss Dental Academy & universities from around the world were invited to a two-day conference in Divonne Les-Bains. The summit, which took place from the 1stJuly to the 2ndJuly, provided a stage where dental professionals could discuss Biofilm management, its main causes and the clinically effective ways to remove it.
EMS, the inventor of air-polishing technologies, formally inaugurated the first Biofilm conference. The topic of the day – “How to manage Biofilm and its effective removal?” It was with these questions in mind that professors from across Europe flocked to the French-Swiss border to speak about the industry’s most avant-garde treatments. The most notable ‘Game Changer’ was the Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT). Indeed, it seems that a new ‘Golden Standard’ has been created in the field of prophylaxis, and it’s coming straight out of Switzerland.
The GBT, which is a 13-step protocol, ensures a high standard in Biofilm removal on both the sub-gingival and supra-gingival areas. With the use of high technology powders, air-polishing & piezon-scaling solutions, the GBT aims to bring a faster and painless treatment to any patient profile. Be it children, sensitive patients, recall or pre-surgery prophylaxis the Guided Biofilm Therapy offers a complete solution.
Nevertheless this was only one of the highlights of the conference. With guest speakers like Dr. Magda Mensi, Dr. Claus Dieter Bastendorff, Dr. Eva Muller, Karen Davis and Bridgitte Schöeneich (treasurer of the European Dental Hygienist Federation) the stage was set for a course on pathogenic Biofilm, the history of Biofilm removal and the challenges of clinical cases. With a total of 18 speakers from across Europe a variety of topics were treated, including handpiece technique and literature analysis.
Being historically the first congress of its kind only emphasized the importance of high-quality prophylaxis. The effective removal of Biofilm is paramount to long-term periodontal & oral health. Indeed, dental care and oral hygiene has never been as important as it is today, which is why protocols are so vital. They give us a high-standard homogenous solution for every patient. One thing we can certainly take from the first World Congress on Biofilm is the GBT, or in other words ‘Get Better Treatment’.
