MARRAKESH, Morocco: The World Dental Federation (FDI) has announced that the first edition of the FDI African Regional Dental Congress will take place in Marrakesh, from 27 to 29 April 2017. Dental professionals and scientists from Africa and across the globe are invited to join the event that is organised by the FDI Africa Region Organisation and the Asociation Marocaine de Prévention Bucco-Dentaire (AMPBD).
With the theme, “Driving Africa to optimal oral health”, this large-scale event will include 30 panel discussions, 40 scientific workshops, 4 round table sessions, 150 free presentations and 100 presentations given by internationally renowned speakers.
The congress aims to bring African and international experts together to discuss topics surrounding oral health and the most frequent oral pathologies of Africa, to exchange insights in the field of oral prevention for children and adolescents and to share their expertise on the promotion of good oral health among older populations. Furthermore, the congress will be a forum where professionals can discuss the latest technological and scientific advances available to establish a realistic, objective, evidence-based dental practice that also respects ethics and equity.
Congress attendees will also discuss the problems hindering the development of oral health on the continent and discuss establishing a platform for meetings to be held that would promote Africa’s oral health strategy. This is spearheaded by the FDI, which is concerned with leadership training of African FDI member associations.
