Amman, March 2020. The Arab Society of Periodontology (ASP) is the non-profit society that was founded in 2019 after the meeting of representatives of periodontal societies and clubs from different Arab countries (Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE ), the meeting was held in Amman, Jordan. Dr. Ala’ Ersheidat from Jordan was elected as the President of the first board for ASP and Prof. Dr. Nada Naaman from Lebanon as Vice President and Dr. Abdallah Al Amri from Saudi Arabia as General Secretary.
Later, Morocco and Palestine also joined the ASP.
The vision that the founding societies emphasized upon was to be the voice for periodontists as the collaborative partner to achieve optimal oral health
The mission of ASP is to provide a chamber for periodontists from different Arab countries where they can meet and exchange knowledge and expertise in different aspects of periodontics and dental implants.
Additionally, the ASP aims to educate the public about the link between oral health and systemic diseases and advocates for periodontal science, research, and clinical advances.
