On Saturday, 10 September, Dr Phophi Kamposiora will be holding a day-long hands-on course sponsored by COLTENE titled “Posterior restorations for inlays, onlays and endo crowns” at the CAPP Training Institute in Dubai in the UAE.
Dr Kamposiora is especially knowledgeable in biomaterials and prosthodontics from her research and private practice. She is a tenured assistant professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the School of Dentistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece. Dental Tribune MEA spoke with Dr Phophi about what participants can learn in her new course.
What is the best approach for obtaining reliable aesthetic and functional results in direct posterior restorations in clinical practice?
The best approach is what I call “personalised dentistry”: observing, listening to and understanding the needs of each patient. This, combined with the use of excellent materials and the individualised training offered in this course, will help participants achieve aesthetic results reliably.
What clinical tips will you be giving to help dentists to achieve the reproduction of the natural occlusal anatomy in posterior restorations?
In this course, I will present an outcome-guided restoration approach to treating posterior teeth. With the help of tools like Digital Smile Design and printed models, as well as techniques like the stamp technique and the individual cusp building technique, participants will receive training on how to reproduce natural-looking, functional occlusal anatomy for posterior teeth.
What types of the latest materials, like composites and adhesives, that are helpful for minimally invasive restorations will you be using?
Unique materials like multi-shaded composites, bulk fill composites and flow composites that allow for sculpting, combined with single-step adhesion techniques, will be the focus of my extensive hands-on training in this course.
Could you offer some insights for prospective course participants about why they should attend on 10 September?
My extensive experience in hands-on courses worldwide allows me to offer individualised training to each participant according to his or her personal interests and level of experience. This, combined with practising of multiple state-of-the-art techniques using a large number of the most modern materials, will enable participants to apply what they have learned immediately in their daily practice.
